Original and traditional folk / roots music from Vermont musicians Andrew VanNorstrand and Rachel Bell.

Andrew and Rachel have been performing together in many different configurations for nearly twenty years! Their shared repertoire has a lot of Celtic and French influences as well as dance music from New England and Quebec. Their early musical work together inspired much of the foundation of each of their careers. Although they are frequently busy with a wide range of collaborators (The Faux Paws, Eloise & Co, Alchemy, The Rear Defrosters just to name a few), their paths always manage to converge now and then, and their shared ideas about rhythms and textures and musicality always seem to be there waiting for them. They both love to dig in on tunes with energetic drive, but they also embrace beautiful melodies that have lots of space and sweetness. Andrew and Rachel have a particular fondness for the balancing act between interesting, intricate arrangements and wildly free improvisation. They enjoy building rich instrumental arrangements around songs as well as pulling diverse repertoire into coherent set lists. In a brilliant stroke of luck (ok, it wasn’t luck so much as years of plotting and planning), they now live just a little over a half hours’ drive from each other, which has given them a whole new opportunity for musical exploration. They’ve been developing their duo material over the past year or so, and are excited to share it.
