Jay and Janet Bailey have been the farmers at “Fair Winds Farm” in Brattleboro for over 40 years. During his work as a farmer Jay has gathered a unique repertoire of songs that deeply reflect the rhythms of farm and country life. His singing and fiddle playing are direct expressions of his love for the land, the people and for the seasonal changes that determine the yearly progression of tasks that are essential to farming.
The program will be of interest to those who love traditional music, local history and our agricultural heritage. The songs, tunes and recollections will cover many topics including the
seasons, working with horses, stone walls, haying and the beauty of living out of doorto the land in New England. Don’t forget to bring your voices!
